Saguaro National Park Fishtank

If you take Tucson's Speedway Boulevard to it's eastern end, you find the parking lot for the Douglas Spring Trailhead in Saguaro National Park. Over a mile into the desert, surrounded by giant saguaro cactus, you'll come upon a spring-fed tank filled with water and, surprisingly, goldfish! According the NPS, the goldfish were introduced to the tank by cowboys to discourage algae growth. Here are directions to the tank and some other interesting hikes in Saguaro National Park.

I've recently learned that there's another goldfish tank in the desert north of the city near the Catalina State Park. I look forward to feeding more desert goldfish soon.
